Which of the novels by British authors do you enjoy and that you recommend?

~ Jane Austen: Emma Maeve Binchy ~: light a candle Penny Circle of Friends, or any of his other books ~ Emily Bronte: Wuthering Heights ~ Anthony Burgess: A Clockwork Orange ~ EM Forster: Passage to India Hardy ~ Thomas: Far from the Madding Crowd Tess of the D'Urbervilles ~ Nick Hornby:. High Fidelity ~ Jean Rhys: Wide Sargasso Sea ~ Neville Shute: On Beach ~ Robert Louis Stevenson: The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. ~ Evelyn Waugh: Brideshead Revisited if you wish, I'd be delighted if you gave a brief summary of the book and why she loved you. thank you: D

Far from the Madding Crowd is a woman whose life intersects with those of three men. He has several dramatic and tragic incidents (including the life of a man destroyed by a valentine) but it ends well, at least for heroin. Like the scene in Hardy's novels. Tess of the D'Urbervilles is the story of a young girl who is seduced. Later, she falls in love and married. She told her husband the truth … and it has important consequences for her and her seducer, too. But probably not how you imagine … One of my favorite books:) This is an amazing story about how someone with very good character could be the worst thing imaginable, because of love. I really liked Circle of Friends. Maeve Binchy has a warm way with her writing, and is also very sensitive. My favorite book is his evening classes – which is a group of people taking an evening course Italian set, each with a history course, including the instructor)

So, they let both Rex Harrison and Anthony Newley sing. This 1968 family musical is classier than the 1998 Eddie Murphy remake, with all of its scatological humor. This won a couple of Oscars (Best Song, Best Effects) and was nominated for seven more, including Best Picture. At the time of release, however, this was a box-office dud. Based (in part) on the magical Hugh Lofting book, it begins in P…

The one thing you can say about Frank Wildhorn is that he doesn’t give up. Like The Scarlet Pimpernel, Jekyll & Hyde , based on R. L. Stevenson’s classic depiction of a split personality run amok, went through several rewrites and casts–each show is a work-in-neverending-progress for Wildhorn. This recording immortalizes the show’s classic Broadway cast: Robert Cuccioli as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde…

This wrong-headed adaptation of the very funny (and scatological) novel by T. Coraghessan Boyle was written and directed by Alan Parker, who doesn’t seem to have much of a clue. It’s not a botch, just a movie that hammers its efforts at humor too hard. The focus is split between three story lines: the life of cereal tycoon John Kellogg (Anthony Hopkins with buck teeth), who has created a health sp…
